Take it from Tiger - this is pretty powerful stuff:

"The value of having something custom fit is that it is custom fit to you. You don't want to have your body adjust to the golf club. That is probably the worst thing you could have happen. You ingrain so many bad habits that way. The best way to start off with any set of golf clubs is to have them built for your size and your height. That's probably the easiest thing to control is the set up of your golf clubs, because there is no movement in it..

When you have a set that is made for you it is amazing how much better you will be able to play. Your miss hit shots go much straighter. I think that is probably the biggest thing because we do not hit perfect golf shots, I mean, no one ever does. Not even the best players in the world. Most of your golf shots are going to be slight misses, and because of the slight misses. It is accentuated when the club is not set perfect for you, you do not have the right shaft, the right loft and lies, all these things go into it, even the grip size. If the grip is too big you are not going to be able to release your hands…. It goes on and on and on.

So a lot of it is dependent on the set-up of the club for you. Once you have the set-up that is right for you it will be truly amazing how much better you will be able to hit it, because now the club is timed up with your body."
